I am output focused and experienced. 

I have real life experience in roading and catchment protection, in particular the Awanui.

There should be NO GST ON RATES – a tax on a tax.

As Chair of Northland's Regional Transport Committee (RTC) for the last three years I was charged with the responsibilty of getting Northland roading back on track.  The major reason for our poor and vulnerable local roads was the neglect of the most basic requirement of keeping roads well drained and dry.  Northland's roading requirements have been recognised and adequately responded to by the NZTA.  Our MP's have played a significant role in this.  The roading subsidy rate of 71% that FNDC now receives recognises the extent of the catchup that the District's roads need.  FNDC now has funding approval for a 3-year program and the roads are administered locally.  tract

I chair the Awanui and Kerikeri/Waipapa River Groups which have very competent Iwi and community representatives.  I am alternate chair of the Whangaroa River and am concerned about the lack of  an effective sediment deposition and removal system at Kaeo such as we have established for Kaitaia on the Pairatahi River.
